My Top 3 Priorities

  • Economy/Jobs - California has been hurt by governmental rules and regulations that make it very difficult for businesses to succeed here. I have a small business and feel the pain every day. I'd like to hire more people so that I can grow, but ever
  • California's Debt - Real pension reform still needs to happen in the State of California. Small steps have been taken, but it's still unsustainable when CALPERS is still providing opportunities for workers to pad their income to get larger pensions
  • Education - Our education system is in sore need of help. I would love a California that doesn't have an elected politician as our Superintendent of Schools. We need to ensure that a focus is provided to getting children at a young age AND THEIR PA

I am a small business owner.  I own an insurance and financial services agency here in San Jose.  I served on the Saratoga City Council for 8 years and had 2 terms as mayor.  I was a very active participant in the League of California Cities, serving as the President and officer of the Peninsula Division for 4 years and as Chair and member of the Environmental Policy Committee for 7 years.  I have a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Business Administration.  I started my career as a programmer for IBM (now I guess it would be called software developer).  I advanced into the technical side of sales and management.  I held executive positions at IBM, Microsoft and then several smaller computer sales companies where I built service organizations.  I started pursuing a passion of mine - helping people - a long time ago, and it's progressed into my current business ownership position.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I can best be described as a fiscally conservative, socially responsible person.  I believe that straight talk is better than political mumbo-jumbo and I am always completely honest.  I don't believe in putting down my opponents - if they've got to resort to those tactics, I guess they are afraid of something or incredibly insecure.  I believe that California's politicians need to put party aside and start making decisions as Californians - every decision needs to be about people, not party!  I have worked together with members of all parties and know that the only way to make sure that the best decisions are made is to listen responsibly, respond tactfully and act appropriately.
