Green Job! Strong Schools! Safe Neighborhoods!

Candidate Statement of Esau Herrera

Green jobs!  Strong schools!  Safe neighborhoods!  That will be my call to action for our State Legislature.

The clean energy industry is growing, generating jobs for both our college and career institute graduates.  I support increasing our commitment to generating clean energy.  It’s good for our economy and good for our environment.

I have provided positive leadership for strong schools in our neighborhoods for over 25 years, leading the effort to create small schools of choice as one example.  I believe that parents know much better than politicians what is best for their children.  I wll fight for affordable college and lower tuition costs, and will insist that we offer qualified California students admission to our State colleges and universities BEFORE out-of-state and out-of-country students.

Safe neighborhoods are critical for healthy families, and calls for more positive programs for youth and their families.  It also calls for an increase in support for our police officers and firefighters.  Keeping the promises we’ve made to these men and women who daily face untold danger is important and the right thing to do.

I will fight for affordable housing for our families, and will fight to fix our roads and highways.  Affordable housing and improved transportation networks in our State are completely achievable goals, IF we have an inside champion in Sacramento fighting for us. I have the experience, the education and the ability to be your inside champion in Sacramento!

I learned the importance of community service from my immigrant parents, who were grateful for the opportunities provided by this great country.  That’s why I have served as a school Trustee for over 25 years, and that’s why I am a proud veteran, with service in the United States Navy, Naval Air Reserve.

I am superbly prepared to serve you in the State Assembly.  With your vote, which will overcome the big special interest dollars going to two other candidates, we can get this done!
