Position Papers

Safety and investment into our children

This position paper will cover a commitment to ensure safety and education for our children.

My name is Wilma M. Wilson.  I am running for the Los Angeles County Central Committee 64th District.  I held this position for ten years.  One of my top priorities were our children safety and providing a good education for our children.  I am a grandmother of 14 grandchildren.  It is important to me to see them grow up in a safe community and get a good education in order to maintain a job.  Our children have become victims of gun violence.  I spoke with a 18 (eighteen) year old young man.   He said, " Ms. Wilson, I hope I live to get 25 (twenty-five) years old.  The first thought that entered my mine was, this kid does not feel safe in his own community.  Therefore, if I am elected to this office, I will sign up for a committee that will focus on the safety of our children.  In fact, I am working toward this mission as I write.  However, working with the Los Angeles Democratic Committee will put me in a better position to work even harder on the issues of safety and jobs for our children.  Thank you very much for your support.
