Founder, Community Giving Foundation (2010–current)

I’m passionate about education and pledge to keep student well-being and fiscal responsibility at the forefront of my work on the Board.

As your Boardmember, my priorities have been to close the achievement gap, deliver quality education to our incarcerated youth, establish better communication between the county and our school districts, and ensure efficient delivery of services with prudent fiscal management.

I’ve worked with local districts to help them meet the requirement to provide equal education to all students and led a Board Task Force focused on closing the achievement gap in our schools.

For 23 years, I’ve actively educated and mentored youth from my work as a teen director for the Boys and Girls Club to helping student athletes at my alma mater University of California, Berkeley. I’ve worked in Oakland schools as a teacher, and after seeing that my students needed more than books, I founded an organization that has fed more than 23,000 families during the holidays.

Our students need and deserve a committed representative. I’ll continue working with local districts, community organizations, faculty, staff and families to pursue programs that serve all of our students. I respectfully ask for your vote.
