My Top 3 Priorities

  • Make the Democratic Party an organization that is welcoming to all Santa Clara County Democrats, of all backgrounds and ages. Working to get our community more involved will build a stronger sense of unity and help find solutions to our problems.
  • Help build our network of Democratic clubs, allowing for geographical, ethnic, gender and issue-oriented local progressive organizations that are welcoming, effective and fun.
  • Insure greater participation in our democratic process by encouraging all citizens the opportunity to vote, so that the will of our community is expressed in our elections at the local, state, and national level.

Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters (3)

What would you do to increase the number of registered voters?
Answer from Steve Preminger:

The Democratic Party, in fact our democracy is more representative when a majority of citizens vote.  To that end, I will continue to develop and work with Democratic clubs and others such as neighborhood organizations to encourage people to go door to door to ask if their neighbors are registered to vote.  If not, it only takes a minute to help someone fill out a voter registration card and drop it in the mail.

The Santa Clara County Democrtatic Party will communicate with local voters about the importance of voting for all local, state and national candidates, including President.  Also on the June and November ballots will be important measures and propositions.  The Democratic Party will communicate our recommended postitions to better inform voters via our web site.

How would you work to promote your party with the electorate?
Answer from Steve Preminger:

The Santa Clara County Democratic Party holds open meetings on the first Thursday of every month.  Any Democrat is welcome to attend our meetings.  They take place at the County Government Center, 70 W Hedding Street, San Jose and run from 7 to 9 PM.

We keep a robust web site to keep interested Democrats informed of Democratic Party activities taking place, how to reach out to our clubs, and how to contact members.  Our web site is

Why did you become a member of this political party?
Answer from Steve Preminger:

I am a Democrat because we have a party platform that reflects my values of inclusion, concern for our environment, equality of opportunity and fairness.  We care about problems of income inequality, affordable housing and quality of life.  The Democratic Party works to bring along everyone and wants to see that we provide a future for all that includes domestic harmony and world peace.  These are our ideals, and we are committed to continue on until we acheive these goals.  We will be busy for a long time to come.
