Biography

Rebecca Prozan is a policy leader at Google, working to forge cutting-edge partnerships with San Francisco’s diverse communities. For almost two decades, Rebecca has had opportunities to shape policy and help the public in varying roles, including the Mayor’s Office, the Board of Supervisors, the District Attorney’s Office, the Recreation and Park Commission, and the Elections Redistricting Task Force. Throughout her public sector career, she worked to find innovative solutions to the city’s problems by bringing people together, listening to different points of view, and crafting solutions that made things work.

Rebecca has devoted her life to advancing progressive values as an advocate for civil rights and the empowerment of our diverse communities. As a member of the state Democratic Party, Rebecca helped fight for immigrant rights, defend affirmative action, and advance marriage equality by pushing resolutions through the Democratic party apparatus.  She represented San Francisco as a pledged delegate for President Obama in both the 2008 + 2012 representing San Francisco at the Democratic National Convention.

In May of 2014, Democratic Party Chair Mary Jung appointed Rebecca to San Francisco’s Democratic County Central Committee. The Committee registers voters, educates the public about voting, and makes important endorsements in elections. Rebecca earned the support of a supermajority of the committee, representing all sides of San Francisco’s political spectrum.

On the DCCC, Rebecca has helped bolster the Party’s foundation by fundraising and organizing.  In addition, she’s spearheaded two unanimous resolutions.  The first resolution brought the Coalition on Homelessness and Senator Dianne Feinstein together to urge city government to adopt the roadmap to end family homelessness. In addition, she worked with School Board members Rachel Norton and Sandy Fewer to allow 16 and 17 year olds the opportunity to register to vote in their American Government Classes.  She hopes to spark political interest in teenagers, as she founded the Political Action Club while at San Mateo High.
