Biography

Hello,

My name is Jesse Hoskins, and I am seeking your vote for Democratic Central Committee, District 1. I am a Sacramento native, and graduate of Humboldt State University. I have been actively involved in the Democratic Party for 3 years. When I was in Humboldt County, I served two terms as President of the Young Democrats, and as an associate member of the Humboldt Central Committee.

Since I have been back in Sacramento, I have become a Sacramento County Young Democrat, attended Sacramento Democratic Central Committee meetings, and became the Parliamentarian for the Wellstone Progressive Democrats.

I currently work at the Sacramento Zoo, and will be attending Sac State as a grad student in the fall.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

We need to work towards a more equitable and just future. In order to accomplish this, we must have a grassroots party that is bound to the people; not an elitist party bound to business and the powerful. I want to do my part in making sure that we have a party that will listen to the common sacramentan, address their issues, and empower them to better organize their own community.

While I love the concept of developing the Sacramento area and attempting to improve the local economy, we cannot ignore the needs of the poor, the homeless, and the working classes to do so. What we need is an economic development plan that helps all of Sacramento County's residents. The main issues that I want to focus on while in the Central Committee would be:

1) Sustainable and equitable economic development;

2) Expanding and Enhancing Regional Transportation and the Light Rail;

3) Affordable and low cost housing.

If we don't work to make those at the bottom and the middle better off, then we won't have a better future for Sacramento, we will just have more problems.
