My basic positions

Following are my positions on most of the hot-button issues of today. Note, these are also the positions of the California Republican Party Platform.

I support:

·        The protection of innocent human life at every stage, from the pre-born to the elderly, the infirm and the disabled.  To restore to the states the right to determine the abortion issue, I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

·        The traditional model of monogamous heterosexual marriage as the only stable relationship upon which to build a society.

·        The individual right to keep and bear arms, including the right of law-abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons.

·        All legal immigrants and others who are here by due process. In fairness to them, I oppose illegal aliens who seek to live here in violation of the law.

·        Laws that prohibit employment and housing discrimination on the basis of the immutable characteristics of race, ethnicity, nationality and sex, or on the basis of religion. I oppose any special privileges, rights, or accommodations based on sexual or behavioral preferences.

·        Strict limits on eminent domain.  Private land, water or property rights should be accessible to government for public use only upon payment of just compensation.

·        School choice programs, charter schools, vouchers, educational savings accounts and the rights of parents to home-school their children without interference from government.

·        Schools that provide the maximum amount of parental involvement and local control as well as a minimum of bureaucratic and monopolistic restrictions.

·        A merit-based pay system for teachers and elimination of union control of our education system.

·        Streamlining the environmental regulatory system to protect the environment, encourage business profitability, create jobs, and protect property rights.

  • Free-market, technologically and scientifically sound solutions to environmental problems
