My Top 3 Priorities

  • True representation of our community voice and upholding community choice. When local government is heavily influenced by big businesses and career politicians, voters are treated as insignificant.
  • Maintaining our quality of life through responsible development plans that bring long-term benefits to our community. Planning for traffic management, public services, and emergency responders must be proactive.
  • Fiscal responsibility. On the Board of Directors at Hostelling International, I successfully managed a $12 million budget through times of recession, protecting jobs and property. We need to do more to attract permanent, quality jobs here.

Small Business Owner Victor Bekhet returned with his wife, an oncology nurse, and 2 children back to their family roots from the Bay area several years ago in pursuit of a lifestyle that included great schools, a safe environment and a rural setting with access to the many amenities provided by the Roseville/Granite Bay area.  He is a self-made professional, whose success comes from his own hard work.  Since he is not a career politician and his campaign is not heavily funded by strong political forces, he is free to speak for you.

Victor has chosen to run as your County Representative, your VOICE, after years of frustration in dealing with the county on broken promises to uphold established community plans, their refusal to deal adequately with ever increasing traffic, stressed safety services, and potential impacts on exemplary school districts.  Two decades of professional experience with business management and fiscal issues will enable him to uphold approved community plans and the expectations of community residents.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Victor believes that residents should not have to take significant time away from jobs, families, and other commitments to fight for rights that have already been established.  Elected officials should act as the constituents' first line of defense to protect community plans.  They need a voice and they need it now.  Let him have the honor of being your VOICE for Relevant, Reasonable, Responsible growth and economic planning.

Community Voice for Planning with Fiscal Responsibility and Integrity

Placer County is blessed with an abundance of resources and access to nature.  My mission is to be your Reasonable VOICE to the County for maintaining and expanding Placer County's appeal as a destination for life, work, and recreation in a fiscally responsible way.

Community Safety

I will do all in my power to ensure our Deputies, Firefighters, and EMTs have the resources to protect our families and our way of life.  Irresponsible development, that places the burden of ongoing emergency services onto taxpayers like you and me, will not receive my support.  Recent startling increases in crime rates in our neighborhoods (Roseville with a 21% increase in general violent crimes and 72% increase in robberies) must be addressed with adequate and timely reinforcement.

Fiscal Responsibility

I will fight for responsible, conservative budgets that will aid in preserving our way of life.  I will lobby to grow our reserve funds.  Placer County's >$800 million budget, funded extensively by property taxes, should be able to add more than $6 million in reserves, especially during times when home values have increased by more than double what the County had estimated.

Quality Jobs

I will address the need to fill the all-to-common "vacancies" of office space.  Having a business-friendly environment attracts companies to move into our community.  We can do that by creating incentives, supporting innovation, and encouraging businesses to expand.  We need to connect job centers with the places people live, expand interconnecting bike & walking paths, and back public transportation where it makes sense.

Invest in Future Leaders

I will work to enable our youth to acquire the leadership skills required for quality jobs.  My goal is to help encourage youth programs to hone knowledge, talent, skills, abilities, experience, training, judgment, and wisdom.  Community and public programs work hand in hand.

Public Services

I will protect our quality of life with a proactive approach to traffic planning, infrastructure improvements, education, and emergency services.

The Environment

I will strive to ensure sustainable and equitable use of our resources without degrading the environment or putting our safety at risk.

I will encourage appropriate development that brings long-term improvement, serving the needs of our community.  Proposals must be well-planned and control negative effects on our public services, traffic and environment.
