I am a life-long member of the Democratic Party.  I am dedicated to public service in San Diego, and have served on many commissions including: Senior Commission for the City of Carlsbad, The Commission for Disabled Citizens and The Commission for the Status of Women both for the County of San Diego.  I am the Secretary of the Rancho Santa Fe Democratic Club, and a proud participant of the San Diego FBI Citizen's Academy, the Government Affairs Committee with the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, and currently serve as an Alternate member of our Democratic Central Committee.  I am actively pursuing as much knowledge as I can in the area of government with my current participation in the Master's Program with Harvard University.

Professionally, I enjoyed a long career in non-profit management serving children's programs throughout Southern California.  I was the founding executive director of Conner's Cause for Children here in San Diego, and founding executive director of The Mark Victor Hansen Foundation (Mark is the Co-Founder of Chicken Soup for the Soul).  I  have been honored by the Points of Light and United Way organizations for my dedication to our San Diego community.  I am currently serving as CEO for Encinitas Internal Medicine in Encinitas. On a personal note, I have lived in Carlsbad with my husband of 30+ years, Dr. Bruce Sachs, and have two magnificent sons and look forward to being a grandmother this coming September!

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I would define myself as a moderate liberal, with more conservative views when evaluating fiscal accountability.  I have a view of leadership which puts all community members front and center, unifying a catalist toward meaningful change.  I believe people should be brought together as constituents, working with their elected leaders toward common goals.  Constituent comes from the Latin word, con stare, which means to stand together.  The idea of leadership is not only about providing services to the community, but an idea of social interaction that enables people to gather around a shared purpose in the face of adversity.

The story of the San Diego Democratic Party is compelling, our story unites focused attention on issues related to social justice, environment and equlity. As a life-long supporter of democratic values, my concerns center around our coastal environment, equal pay for women, LGBT rights, immigration reform and supporting the family dynamics of Latinos here in San Diego, while focusing attention to our border and national security.  Finally, it is vital to secure the fiscal integrity of San Diego County, while providing an environment conducive to business and community development, which are key to enhancing San Diego's status as America's Finest City.
