Biography

I’ve been an active volunteer with the County Democratic Party since 2006. My involvement with the San Digo County Democratic Party has been recognized with their leadership award in 2009, volunteer of the year in 2014, and most recenlty as California Democratic Party Region 20 volunteer of the year in 2016.

I started my volunteering doing voter registration and phone banking and became part of the newly founded "Grassroots Organizing Team" of precinct ambassadors. Due to my organizational involvement, I was appointed as an Associate Member of the Central Committee in 2009. I was further elected to serve on the Executive Board as Grassroots Organizing Director (since 2010), as a member of the Administration (Bylaws/Credentials) standing committee (2013-current), as a California Democratic Party Delegate (since 2011), and to represent the county party on the California Democratic Party Executive Board (2015-current). I was appointed by the California Democratic Party to serve on the statewide voter services committee with a focus on precinct based voter contact (2013-current).

As part of my volunteering, I serve as the Party’s Voter File Manager, directly supporting candidates with their voter data. I have built solid working relationships with numerous candidates, their campaign managers and administrators. I enjoy being able to serve and support multiple candidates at the same time. Over the last several elections, I’ve been the person who has provided precinct-level customized mailer content listing only the endorsed candidates on the ballot in that precinct and made slate mailing to 100’s of thousands of Democrats possible. I also help the party at the organization level with their annual events (Roosevelt Dinner, Silent Auction, Conventions).

Outside of politics, I served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for 2 foster children from 2005 to 2008 and was active in PTA when my own children were K-12 students.

My husband and I own/operate two manufacturing businesses in Kearny Mesa with 250+ employees. Our corporate culture is one of collaboration, innovation, and opportunity. All employees receive health benefits, vacation/sick/personal time, and our minimum wage exceeded $10.10/hours long before President Obama called for it.  My husband serves on the Kearny Mesa Planning Group.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

My philosophy is one of collaboration with an eye to long term strategy for Democrats in my district, the county, the state and the nation. Our district has a broad mix of Democrats who label themselves, and others, in many ways as well as those who avoid labels completely. I'm one of the latter, I'd much prefer to understand our differences and find ways to work together. It is important that as a committee, we are focused on multiple issues, listen to all voices, and consider how topics and concerns relate and integrate, and think of the "big picture" as we consider candidates and positions for endorsement.

I am delighted to see so many new candidates for Central Committee – new voices are vitally important. I also think reelecting some old voices is important. I am uniquely qualified with historical County Party experience and working relationships. I am the only current or past member of the County Party Executive Board who has qualified for the AD 78 ballot. I believe that having Central Committee members who can provide that continuity and perspective is essential to our primary objective of electing strong Democrats and to the continued growth and success of the party.
