Questions & Answers

The Federal Government plays a part in California water allocation and use through a variety of laws.  What, if any, legislation would you support in an effort to handle water shortages caused by the current and any future drought?
Answer from Roman Gabriel Gonzalez:

I would support legislation that increases funding towards collecting rainwater and snow runoff. Also, I would support legislation that included funding for desalination in California so that we could become self-sufficient and not have to rely on outside water sources. Having desalination plants would protect us from future drought. In addition, I would support the use of drip irrigation and other water saving irrigation methods so that farmers are being as efficient as possible. This is important because most water usage is due to agriculutral use.

Immigration

Should immigration laws be changed?  What changes would you support?  Please explain why.

National Security

What, if anything, does the U.S. need to do in order to address national security and terrorism? Please explain your answer in detail.

The political climate in Washington, D.C. has been extremely partisan in recent years. In that kind of atmosphere, what would you do to get things done while in office?
Answer from Roman Gabriel Gonzalez:

As in Independent, I believe in compromise to get things done. I can find common ground between both Democrats and Republicans. We have to work together and be accountable to the American people, instead of pointing fingers at the other party when bills fall through. I would do this by enacting term limits, so that career politicians won't be stuck in their ways and we can have new ideas in Congress. Also, I would support legislation that makes bills single subject so that they are easier to read and so that politicians can't sneak something onto a bill.
