Member, City Council City of Chico
Occupation: Nonprofit Housing Director

Jobs are my top priority – and monitoring the budget with a magnifying glass! Chico’s best days are ahead of us. With the right decisions, we can protect and create hundreds of jobs. I will work with local businesses to bring dependable air service to Chico, which could be worth $50 million for the economy.

I was one of Chico’s youngest Mayors at age 32. My accomplishments included the Greenline (protecting our agricultural land), 20th St. Community Park, and the Chico bus system.

I have not slowed down! In my career, I helped 300 families become self-help homebuilders from Gridley to Corning and helped dozens of small towns nationwide with affordable housing. I retire next year from a national housing organization.

I led efforts to save the Saturday Farmers Market from eviction. As a councilmember, I will reach agreement to move the toxic junkyard out of Chapman. Last year Chico environmentalists gave me lifetime achievement award!

I grew up in a huge family – 7th in a family 14, so I work well in groups! I have been married 37 years to Linda Morrison Ory, an Enloe Family Nurse Practitioner. We have two grown children, Sam and Kate. Please contact me at
