Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Wynn Grcich:

I want transparency, so the public has an idea why these schools are not being repaired and maintained.  The school district needs to run like a well run business.I am running for school board because this is not being done in the HUSD. We are $65 million in debt from the teachers' unfunded pensions. The city council wants two more grades added the Cherry Land new school development. The Board doesn’t have the money for it. The plans were already made for Kindergarten to 6th grade. There is too much wasteful spending, like the $2,000 dollar an hour verdure from the College Bound group, who came up from San Diego, on a Wednesday, to video on her phone the College Bound Students who chanted “ Get Rid of the Board,” when Dobbs was fired. The vendure's job is on Saturdays, to help this group register for college. That is same thing the high school councilors do for free. Why does she come to the Wednesday night board meetings, when her job is on Saturdays? She wants to get rid on the board who gave her a thousand dollar an hour raise. This over spending is crazy and the vendure has no loyality to the board, who gave her this expensive account.

WYNN GRCICH: I am running for Hayward School Board in hopes of improving the students’ health and environment which leads to success in public education, college or trade school, and job centered adults. Improving the water quality and non-GMO lunches is a good start. Making the cell phone towers safer, or removing the cell towers from campuses will give students a safer environment away from harmful cell phone towers emissions. Currently, our public schools are flooded with massive amounts of powerful wireless microwave radiation and that needs to stop. Cell phone towers emit high-frequency radio waves, or microwaves, that can travel as far as 45 miles over level terrain. The closer the towers are to the classrooms, the greater the danger to our students and teachers. I’d like to see the schools open on Saturdays for English lessons, soccer, other sports, art, dance teams and singing.  A movie night on a weekend of inspirational students achievements and documentaries. We need to have funds available for fingerprinting of volunteering adults. I believe we need more community involvement by creating a district-wide Parent’s Union, open to the public to join. We want a community voice for everyone in solving what is best for our children to excel towards higher education . Each one of our Hayward students has skills, which can be developed into productive adults for our community. As a successful small business owner, I know what can be done when education provides opportunities, and we need to provide our students with those same opportunities. Please give me your vote on November 8, 2016 -Wynn Grcich for School Board!
