My Top 3 Priorities

  • Continued support in the implementation of the new state standards
  • Investment in technology including hardware, software, infrastructure and training
  • Educate our students by giving them the tools required for college and/or career readiness

I am married with 3 children, a dog and a rabbit. I have one son who just graduated NPHS and two daughters; a sophomore at NPHS and a 5th grader at Banyan Elementary School. I have lived in Newbury Park for over 19 years.  When I am not busy volunteering, I can be found hiking and photographing our wonderful trails and open space.

full experience)
I started volunteering at Banyan Elementary School when my oldest was in Kindergarten. I quickly became more involved, including becoming the computer lab specialist and teaching all students (K-6), typing, Word and Excel. Over the years I have held almost every position on the PTA at both Banyan Elementary and Sequoia Middle School. I sat on both NPHS and Banyan’s School Site Council. Additionally, I was elected to the NPGS (Newbury Park Girls Softball) and NPBA (Newbury Park Basketball Association) boards. I have experienced firsthand the strength and weaknesses of the district. I volunteered on many committees with a variety of parents, teachers and students and have listened and learned.

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and spent my childhood exploring the world. I was lucky enough to have lived in Europe for my elementary school years and Asia for high school. During this time, I attended top quality American schools and traveled extensively. Additionally, I lived outside of Philadelphia, where I attended junior high. I moved to California in 1987 to attend University of Southern California.  My mother was a teacher at both public and private schools in Ohio, Singapore, Pennsylvania and Arizona.  She was on the school board at the American School of The Hague.  My father taught at a public school in AZ after retirement.  My grandfather was president of a school board for 12 years.
My experience encompasses both public and private education. I desire to bring the best of both of those to this school district.
