My Top 3 Priorities

  • If elected my first priority will be to keep the district fiscally sound. California schools continue to be underfunded and districts are being asked to cover more costs with no increases in funding. I will work to maximize use of every dollar.
  • I will continue to work with our teachers to add more opportunities for all students in Career Tech Education, dual credit classes with Moorpark College and another magnet at the elementary level.
  • I will work with the city and staff to attract students to our district and to retain those we have by continuing to provide an exceptional education with world class teachers in a safe clean environment.

Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Peggy Buckles:

My school district currently posts our LCAP goals and the amount of money budgeted to achieve these goals on our district website. I will continue to insist they do this as well as posting our test results from the Smarter Balanced tests and the states multiple measures accountability formula once those are available. I will also make sure these are available to our local news agencies and that parents have access to them.
