As a longtime resident and active community member, I am proud to be running for Ventura's School Board. I have my business degree from USC School of Business and a MBA from Claremont Graduate University. I have also served one term on the Ventura City Council, was the co-chair for BRAC task force, was the president for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Ventura Foundation, and many more. As I look back at those organizations that I’ve served a common theme emerges - building bridges between the community and our schools.

Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Ed Summers:

We're closely with school administration to ensure that we are reporting information to achieve the maximum allocation possible. Work with legislators in Sacramento to stress the importance of education funding, increase funding from the local community, and ensure funding is being applied to classroom education and stability improvement.
