1995-2008:DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES, OXNARD UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS:     

 

• Oversaw the facilities, maintenance and operations of the district’s six high schools and the adult education program. 

 

• Oversaw and implemented the deferred maintenance program, developer fee program, IPM program and the Labor Compliance Program (LCP) for the district of 16,000 students and a staff of 1300. 

 

• Oversaw the development and construction of all new facilities including Pacifica High School that opened in the fall of 2001, a $2,000,000 swimming pool at Oxnard High School that opened in the spring of 1999. Designed and constructed the new Pacific View Community Day School that opened in the fall of 2003, and the construction of a new $2,000,000.00 Swimming pool at Rio Mesa High School that opened in the fall of 2004.

 

• Supervised the installation of 10 relocatable classrooms in 1997, and the relocation of four buildings and the installation of three new buildings in 1999 for the Adult Education program.  

 

• Created and constructed the new Frontier High School in 1997 (installed 16 relocatable classrooms, moved 6 other buildings and modernized the office facilities and existing classrooms) in a seven-week time frame. 

 

• Coordinated the planning, purchasing and installation of 33 relocatable classrooms, for growth and replacement of non-DSA buildings in 1998, and the installation of 28 relocatable classrooms in 1997.  

 

• Oversaw the $45,000,000 modernization of four of the districts six high schools using district and State funds • Worked with the DTSC, CDE, OPSC and DSA. to get the new school site and plans approved for construction of Pacifica High School.

 

 

1988-1995:   OPERATIONS MANAGER, VENTURA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

• Analyzed needs and developed long term planning and construction of schools. • Priorities for custodial, grounds, water conservation and recycling for the district. • Accomplishments include: author of a successful recycling program, initiator of an effective water conservation program, creator of a district-wide custodial inspection and         awards program  • Responsible for management and planning for 115 custodial and grounds employees.  • Author of the 1990-1991 VUSD Disaster Plan.  • Served on the District Management Team for classified negotiations 1990-91 • President of the VUSD Classified Managers Association 1991

EDUCATION:

I have received formal instruction in the following areas:

Electricity, plumbing, welding, refrigeration, HVAC, energy management, architectural drawing design drafting blueprint reading, mechanical drafting, budgeting, water conservation and pesticide management, bargaining unit contracts and negotiations. All local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, Cal OSHA, SB198, rule 210, SIMS, SB 2260, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

 

In 1996-1997 I completed the ACSA School Business Managers Academy.

 

In 1999 I received the Educational Facilities Planning Certificate from UC Riverside.

 

In 2003 I completed courses in Controlling Construction Cost and Managing Construction Projects at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
