My Top 3 Priorities

  • Help our 'at risk" youth by addressing the current standard of requiring them to be 2 years behind prior to any interventions or accomodations
  • Bring in Academies to our High Schools to allow Vocation based learning
  • Address the current Truancy Policy to make it more parent-friendly and accomodating

My formal education revolved around Business, finance and accounting. My parents owned a small family business, a Pet Store, I learned business from the ground up. I have been self employeed since the age of 21 and currently I am a Realtor. The Real-estate Profession allowed me the needed flexibility in both income and time to raise four kids with my husband Noel Moran. As a realtor one of the most frequently asked questions when looking for a home with a client is “what school district is this home in?” This is a key question, school and school related activities account for ½ or more of a child’s daytime hours, 5 days a week. The school experience is central to any family life.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

A Parent, not a Politician

I am passionate about our schools and I believe innovation and cooperation are the keys to creating an even better school environment. I am a fighter and will work tirelessly for the people depending on me.

School Involvement:

As an independent business owner, my career allowed flexibility. When my children began school, I became involved. I volunteered in classrooms. I participated in fundraising for major events. I collaborated with administrative staff, Coaches, Teachers and PFSO organizations. I helped to meet funding needs for Technology, Sports, Building Improvements and Equipment.  I believe that a positive school experience for each of our children translates into success!  A Worthy Cause

Jackie Moran on the Issues-these are my primary objectives:

* If elected, I would work to create more specialty Academies in our high schools that prepare our students for the fields in their future.  Academies that would pair our student’s interest with current industry needs; Filmmaking/editing, Engineering, Medicine, Criminal Justice/Law, Environmental Sciences and more…

* As a small business owner, I understand the importance of a balanced budget and a strong financial outlook. I will work to focus funding first on the core of our operation, safety and a positive learning environment with qualified, competent teachers.

* Learning Difficulties and the process of identifying and accommodating our children who are “at risk”.  I will seek effective and early intervention tools to be made available in each of our classrooms and directed by our teachers and parents. These intervention tools and techniques can be at work for these children immediately.  Our Districts current process requires these children to be 2 years behind before an intervention is available. These children are “left behind”; I will seek to change this.

* The Truancy Policy allows our District Schools to pair with law enforcement to have criminal citations and prosecutions levied against children and Parents. Many cases have been enforced through improper application of this criminal law. I will seek to change the application of this law to make it in line with the spirit with which it was written, and make the process of clearing absences more Parent-friendly.

* I oppose Common Core or any Federally mandated method of universal teaching. Teaching is like parenting, there are many techniques used to succeed. Our children are not a “one box fits all” proposition and they deserve the best methods available for their style of learning. I will work hard to bring diverse, dynamic and innovative learning techniques that will inspire learning and propel our children forward.
