My Top 3 Priorities

  • Completing the first comprehensive Moorpark General Plan update since 1992 (in 2017)—with significant public participation—to create the blueprint for Moorpark for the next 20-30 years, one that is both business AND environmentally friendly.
  • Completing the long-awaited widening, with bike lanes and sidewalks, of Princeton Ave. between East Moorpark and downtown.
  • Keeping Moorpark a small, safe, vibrant town & working to make an even better community; promoting public participation & strong law enforcement; improving traffic safety; attracting quality stores/restaurants—while preserving our semi-rural flavor.

Because of my long-standing work with SOAR (Save Open-space and Agricultural Resources) as the co-author of the Moorpark SOAR and your leader in each SOAR campaign since the 1990’s to the one THIS year (2016), it’s easy for the media and some people to think that’s all I know and do.  NOT SO.

Yes, I’m proud of fighting FOR the environment. But I want you to know that I’m a lot more than that.  I’m a working woman, with a full time job—successfully running my own business in Moorpark for more than 33 years–in both insurance sales helping people with their Medicare coverages the last four years, and…..

….As a skilled consultant before that, in training and education, with companies like IBM, Kinkos, the US Air Force—and many others—helping solve complex business problems.  My specialties? … analysis, design, and evaluation.

I have experience across many industries—and, I’m a winning grant writerhaving obtained over $34M in funding for local area schools and other regional/state organizations.

On top of that, I have served on the board and executive committee of the Economic Development Collaborative—Ventura County since 2009 and served as county-wide chair in 2015. On my watch, we have mapped the broadband infrastructure of the county, including Moorpark, expanded our loan portfolio to be able to lend more money to promising businesses in the county who could not otherwise get funding (for example we loaned the Princeton Ave Montessori School money so they could double their enrollment to help bring more childcare slots to Moorpark).

EDC-VC has loaned over $15M over the life of the organization using and reusing a portfolio of about $3M. Once paid back, it’s lent out again to another promising business. WE also provide no-cost consulting to qualified businesses to help them improve their productivity and bottom line.  A Moorpark success story is AG Machining who has benefited by EDC-VC consultants many times over.

I know business, I know education—and I know the issues facing our city and county.  Moorpark needs my experience and historical insight during the next four years to compliment whichever NEW face joins the council as a novice, and then starts to do his or her homework—like I have been doing for the last 25+ years about Moorpark.

No other candidate can match my track record in both of these important areas: 1) promoting economic balance for a financially strong Moorpark that supports high quality sustainable businesses with local jobs; & 2) supporting the principles of SOAR to maintain our quality of life.

Please vote for me, Roseann Mikos on Nov. 8th. (I will be the last name listed on your ballot.)  Together, we will continue to make a difference in Moorpark! Thanks for your support!
