Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools. What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Joanne Durkee:

Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) as it applies to MDUSD has been presented at Board meetings and the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) has been and is being developed with input from all stakeholders, including the general public.  As a MDUSD Board Member I will be focused on ensuring high quality communications regarding LCFF and LCAP - how they are described and various formats and arenas in which they are described.  I believe that MDUSD Board of Education is responsible for the integrity of the process and real opportunities for input from all those impacted by and concerned with LCFF and LCAP.  LCAP is intended to be a fluid document and process, with specific measurable identified outcomes.   Regular reporting out of outcomes and challenges in meeting outcomes will also be a focus for me as a Board Member.
