Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools. What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Laurence J. Polk:

The major changes in how the state allocates funding, the LCFF (Local Control Funding Formula) gives the district greater flexibility on when and how to spend the funds.  With this flexibility, it is important that the district is transparent in where and how funds are being spent.  This will be accomplished with the Local Control and Accountability Plan. The LCAP is there to have the transparency and gets the community involved.  The District will develop a 3-year plan on how to spend the funds.
