Biography

I grew up in Roscommon, Michigan, where the values of community involvement and civic duty were instilled in me from an early age by my parents and my church.

Participating in the Boy Scouts, where I
attained the rank of Eagle Scout, taught me to help the less fortunate, educate our youth, and respect our elders.

After recieving my B.A. in political science, I moved to California in 2000 to attend law school and earn my Juris Doctorate from New College of California. While in law school I did pro bono work helping people with housing discrimination disputes. After graduating law school I worked for large accounting firms in San Francisco such as KPMG and Grant Thornton.

When I met my husband, Howard, we could not legally marry. In many states, we could even lose our jobs over our relationship. Things have changed a lot in our nation and city
since then.

In 2009, we bought a home in Hercules were we found a strong sense of community. We love it for its beautiful library, parks, community events, and diverse population.

Being a real estate agent has given me a familiarity with the neighborhoods of our city.

My work on the Community and Library Services Commission has helped me understand how to get things done in our city. Some of my other positions have included President of the Friends of the Hercules Library, Vice-President of the Hercules Library Foundation, and a founding member of the Hercules Democratic Club.

I have the vision, passion and
perseverance to improve our quality of life, and I have the backbone to fight for our right to be heard. Together, we can keep Hercules strong.

We Are Hercules!
