Biography

As a third-generation resident, I had the great fortune of growing up in Orinda and benefiting from its bountiful recreational opportunities and excellent schools. Returning after college, I have lived in Orinda nearly all of my life, have served on the Parks and Recreation Commission, and operate my law practice downtown.

Before becoming a lawyer, I was a newspaper reporter and covered local government for nine years. I tracked civic leaders, their decisions and the outcome of those decisions in the short term and in the long term.  That experience has equipped me with an appreciation for the fact that the devil in every decision is in the detail.

I bring that detail-oriented approach to my work as a member of the Board of Directors of Las Trampas School, Inc., serving our developmentally disabled community and as a member of the Board of Directors CREW East Bay, working to bring parity to women in the commercial real estate professions. This dedicated approach is necessary, not only for effective decision-making within our own city, but also to forge and foster relationships with our sister agencies, BART, our school districts and our fire district to assure that we are maximizing our transportation resources, assuring that Orinda continues to be a place where education thrives, and making Orindans as safe as possible both at school and at home.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

Nine years as a journalist followed by law school and, finally, operating a law practice in Orinda and serving on the board of directors for both Las Trampas School, Inc. and CREW East Bay has equipped me with two skills above all others for effective leadership and management: Listening, followed by consideration of each perspective presented.  I am dedicated to bringing a balanced, thoughtful and objective ear to each issue Orinda faces because that is how good decisions are made.
