I started out volunteering to build the District's web site after working on the Tunnel campaign. It wasn't long before I was on the board. Members of the community and the board had been working for years to solve our water problems, and I joined in. It seemed to take forever, but it's been a dozen years since Montara and Moss Beach took back our water system. It was in bad shape, but we've rebuilt it to one of the finest in the state. We've replaced lines, added fire hydrants, built tanks, drilled wells, and much more.
Our water supply is now so secure that the Coastal Commission and the State Department of Water allowed us to end the practice of putting urban homes on domestic wells. As further evidence, after four years of drought that forced other agencies into mandatory cutbacks, our all-local water supply remained strong and steady.
