My Top 3 Priorities

  • My goal is to make sure the needs of the students,parents and educators are heard in order to exceed state standards and prepare them with the necessary 21st century skills.
  • I plan to work in partnership with the board and all stakeholders to focus on an agenda that ensures student success.

Cal State LA and University of Southern California B.S. degree in Psychology from USC & M.A. Communication Disorders from Cal State LA, Speech & Language disorders - support student with speech difficulties. (2001)

Yvonne West-Palma was born in Inglewood, California and completed her early education in Hawaii. She graduated High School, with honors as Valedictorian of her class, in 1988. She returned to Los Angeles where she received a B.A. in Psychology, in 1992, from the University of Southern California. After working for several years with special needs families & children, she received her Masters in Communication Disorders from Cal State Los Angeles; Yvonne has worked as a Speech/Language Pathologist at LAUSD for 16 years.  As a dedicated wife to David Palma for 15 years, they share two beautiful daughters, ages 10 and 7, currently attending Park School. Yvonne joined Park School PTA in 2013 and became unit President in 2014. She continues to be a strong advocate for children and family engagement. While serving as the Founder’s Day Chair for Alhambra Council PTA, Yvonne was instrumental in raising funds for senior scholarships for 5 AUSD high schools.  Yvonne has been very involved in Alhambra community organizations, including Girl Scouts troop #24504. She is an avid supporter/volunteer for the AEF annual fundraising events supporting music programs for the Alhambra Unified School District.  Yvonne exemplifies the commitment needed to make a difference in the lives of children as well as supporting the educational needs families and the community.
