Political Philosophy

I believe the function of government is to allow us to collectively help each other when we cannot do it alone. Using the power of the government and its monies, we can improve the lives of many of our fellow citizens.

What I want to accomplish on the Board of Directors

We need improvement on how the Board of Directors interacts with the public and its employees.

The Board of Directors meets once a month. In between the meetings, there are various committee meetings that occur with a couple of Board members present at each. As a member of the public, I have attended most of all Board Meetings and meetings of the Finance Commitee of the AV Healthcare System. I think we can improve in certain areas:

1. We need more order at our meetings. Our Board meetings are out of control. We need people desiring to speak to the Board to fill-out a speaker card. They will be called to speak and will receive ample time to do so. People will not be recognized if they yell out of the audience and may be asked to leave the meeting.

2. I want to have an office on campus, so that I may review in detail the papers and projects to be submitted to the Board. Most of the Board members are doctos and do not have the time and energy to constant monitor the paper flow.

3. I want to pursue our relationships with other healthcare bodies such as the V.A., Mental Health America, et.  If possible we want these organizations on our campus to provide services.

4. I want a detailed review of our finances by someone who had previously served at the hospital to help the Board establishs what has been done the past year.

5. I want an independent oversight board to oversee any construction on and around the campus of AV Healthcare District hospital.
