My Top 3 Priorities

  • Reduce teen smoking and drug use. This is a huge problem in our affluent community and requires a comprehensive solution from community, organizations, parents and schools.
  • 2. Eliminate fiscal waste while meeting BCHD objectives. The more money we can spend on directly impacting community health, the better!
  • 3. Implement “Dying Well” to help families plan for end of life. My husband’s grace in facing death has inspired me to help others to talk to their loved ones about their wishes, before it’s too late.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe in the American value of “liberty and justice for all.”  Every time I say the pledge of allegiance, these words touch my heart.  These words are about freedom to live as we each see fit as well as our responsibility to community as a whole to protect safety and promote fairness.

When I took the oath of office to serve on the Beach Cities Health District Board, I swore to protect the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.  Even as a local elected official on the BCHD board, I took the same oath as the president of the United States, and I take that oath seriously.

It is humbling to serve in public office and it is exciting to be part of a non-partisan organization where each board member is committed to a common vision of building a “Healthy Beach Community!”  Among the five current board members, we represent four different political affiliations.  And, yet, we all agree on how we want to spend the money available to us to support the health and wellness of the beach cities residents whether they are kids, adults or seniors.  And, I’m very proud that the evidence shows that our programs are actually working to improve the health statistics in our community.
