Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of San Diego (1)

What is the most significant challenge facing National City, and if you are elected, what steps will you take to address it?
Answer from David Garcia:

National City is an access point to success. As an active member of the National City community, I witness the stress points of the city, the immense need of our population and most importantly, the potential we have to achieve.  National City is currently under an investment reprise, and we are starting to see our iconic “Highland” with new businesses, the Mile of Cars remodeling their dealerships, our Port and Industrial Park are gearing up for development. My initiatives will add value to this incredible growth and with your support, we can build a path to progress National City.

We must ensure that our National City programs and resources adhere to the needs of our residents. Our assets can create access points to education, culture and career pathways. My new initiatives would open doors to create partnerships with universities, trades, and businesses that will allow the youth of our city unique access to science, technology, engineering and mathematical pathways.

City government must guide alongside community organizations dialogue between property owners and businesses to create financial corridors and districts that lead to healthy competitive markets. These two initiatives can lead to job creation, asset ownership and a continual investment for our National City residents. We must ensure our city provides residents an infrastructure that will lead them to success.

I will build community and business partnerships that construct public goods, and mount civic pride. The Maytime Band Review is an example of a business and community collaboration that builds a cultural identity for National City while also enriching our markets with opportunities for businesses. I want our city to provide an environment in which our households, businesses, and children cultivate success.

My mission is to ensure these initiatives build upon our successes and expand an environment which allows our households, businesses, and our youth to cultivate success. For these reasons, the people of National City nominate me for a seat on National City Council 2016, and with your vote, we can build a Path to Progress!
