Summary
  • Charlie Cleaves has had a passion for serving citizens in East County for 30 years. He served as a Juvenile Justice Commissioner advocating for children in custody and spent his career volunteering with STARPAL and at-risk kids. 
  • He has also has been a long time coaching and mentoring fixture in East County sports leagues, and will enter his 16th year as the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Steele Canyon HS.
  • Charlie retired from the U.S. Marshals Service and as a former longtime member of the Violent Crimes Task Force Fugitive Group; he worked closely with the El Cajon Police Department and the San Diego Sheriffs in keeping violent offenders off the streets in East County. 
  • Prior to his career with the USMS, he received his B.A. from SDSU, after serving in the U.S. Army, with the 2nd Ranger Bn. and 5th Special Forces Group in Ft. Bragg, NC. 
  • With the many challenges facing the San Miguel Fire District and Board, Charlie welcomes the opportunity to serve the citizens of East County by strongly supporting local control, local hiring, fiscal responsibility and insuring that each of us in East County has the best fire protection when we need it!
