My Top 3 Priorities

  • Fiscal Responsibility, where budgets are balanced and expenditures do not exceed revenues
  • Local Control, where your tax dollar stays in the community you live and you have a say on how it will be spent.
  • Transparency, where the community is given the information needed to help build a department that reflects their needs.

Experience

Biography

Kim Raddatz has over 34 years of well-documented successes in service to East County and it residents. His fire service career started with the Lakeside Fire Protection district in 1979. As he rapidly promoted through the ranks to Fire Chief, Kim’s leadership and commitment to better serve the community never wavered. He has had the privilege in leading organizations like the Coronado and Salinas Fire Departments.

Throughout his years with Lakeside Fire Department, Kim trained numerous firefighters at the east county fire training facility commonly known as Heartland Fire Academy. Many of those firefighters still work for San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District today or have promoted to Fire Chiefs in many East County Departments

In 2003, as a fire Division Chief for Coronado, Kim was assigned to the state command team to establish how to best track and monitor the assignments of East County fire resources during the Cedar Fire.

As the Zone Coordinator of East County, Chief Raddatz was elected by his peers to be responsible for the day-to-day operations for all local fire department resources during large emergency incidents. This assignment lasted 4 years.

During the 2007 fires in San Diego County, Chief Raddatz was requested to be assigned to the San Diego County Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the local fire resources and give daily briefings to the media, elected officials, and the public. As the Fire Chief of two agencies, he has had a great deal of experience at public events and with the media.

Kim Raddatz is also well recognized for his expertise in facilitating the development of mission/vision statements, conducting organizational analysis, and jump-starting strategic planning for public and non-profit organizations. He believes these processes help to build a more cohesive work environment and to grow an organization to its full potential. A few organizations with whom Kim has worked in this capacity include the California State Firefighters’ Association, Coronado Fire Department, and the Salinas Fire Dept.

Chief Raddatz’s education consists of dual degrees in business administration and management. He is also a state certified instructor for fire leadership and management courses and holds numerous other fire service certifications.

Though retired from the fire service, he now is pursuing another way to help the community he has called home since 1987. Kim is seeking to be elected as a Board of Director for the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District. He believes that organizational transparency, local control, and fiscal responsibility will ensure the success of San Miguel Fire Department’s transition back to a stand-alone department. His experience, successes, and respect among local fire personnel will make Kim Raddatz a great director for the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District during these tough times.

Help me elect this strong candidate to the San Miguel Fire Board.
