Biography

am running for Norris School District Board Trustee.  I am very excited about the opportunity to humbly serve the students, parents, teachers and administrative staff of the Norris School District in addition to our community as a whole.  I am running because of my passion and dedication to the future of ALL students in this district.  I have the professional, business and leadership background to add value to the current Board of Trustees.  If entrusted with the opportunity to serve as a Trustee for Norris School District, I plan to work together with other board members to ensure board efficiency along with establishing policies to promote educational equality for ALL the students in the district.

I ask for your vote for the Norris School Board to help keep Norris schools great.  As an educator (15 years), and as a parent, I have been deeply involved with educational excellence. My long-term experience has provided me with the knowledge, training and commitment necessary to serve our district as I bring elementary and middle school administrative and teaching experience to complex decision-making. I plan to proactively solicit the opinions of parents and teachers in making Board decisions, and to make the Board more responsive to our diverse community needs. I will promote pedagogy in our schools, which embraces lifelong learning and work towards maintaining a quality education for all students, high achieving and special needs, alike. I believe that it is the Board’s job to foster an educational environment where students thrive. To accomplish this, I kindly ask for your support and vote.

Questions & Answers

Questions from League of Women Voters of California Education Fund (1)

A recent law made major changes in the way that the state allocates funding to schools.  What will you do to ensure that the public understands your local control formula for school spending and your plan to measure outcomes?
Answer from Christi Dugas-Cramer:

Under the Local Control Funding Formula, districts have broad discretion over how to use the base grants. However, in return for that flexibility, districts must commit to raise student achievement. I will ensure the public is aware of LCAP goals through parent teacher groups, mail, e-mail and board meetings. The outcomes will be measured through state testing.
