Biography

My career as a teacher began in the New York City public school system. I did my literacy professional development at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project — whose curriculum is now used across all PAUSD elementary schools.  I did my math professional development at the City College of New York, in an innovative program called “Math in the City.”  My district funded my participation in an administrative credentialing program at Baruch College. I spent eight years as a classroom teacher and staff developer for grades K-8 and then I became an Education Consultant for schools and districts in the U.S. and internationally.

In 2001 I moved to San Francisco and began a PhD program in Education from Stanford’s Graduate School of Education. Since completing my dissertation in 2008 I have worked locally, teaching at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, consulting for education technology companies, and supporting teachers and administrators in schools and districts across the Bay Area.

As an educator, my priorities are to make sure all students receive the academic and emotional support they need, to continue to push towards equity for each and every student, and to engage students in authentic ways.
