My Top 3 Priorities

  • I am running to ensure that each and every student receives the highest quality education that will enable them to succeed in college and career. I am absolutely passionate about the whole child.
  • Our district needs to have fiscal sustainability for the long-term, and this means that one of my top priorities is to create policies that reduce our deficit spending and increase our budgetary health for the long-term.
  • I’m running because the board needs members who understand good governance, who understand the broader picture of the county, state and federal levels, and who are able to collaborate with all stakeholders for the benefit of our students.

Currently, I’m the Evergreen School District Board President. I’m also the Executive Director of the Santa Clara County School Boards Association, working with all of the 31 school district boards in our county in addition to MetroEd and the County Board of Education. At the state level, I’m also a member of the California School Boards Association’s Delegate Assembly, which works on California educational issues and legislation.

Since moving to Evergreen in 1997, I’ve been serving our community on numerous bond oversight committees, school site councils, PTAs, and the Evergreen School Board in addition to being a past president of the District 8 Community Round Table. I’ve also been the District 8 representative to the San Jose Redistricting Commission, a Housing and Community Development commissioner for six years, and a member of the General Plan Task Force Update committee working on land use issues in San Jose. In all these roles, I have been a strong leader for the community in addition to an effective coalition builder. I am forward thinking, and I am an excellent listener.
