Biography

Ron Ikejiri has spent his entire career serving the public. As an attorney and former City Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Gardena, Ron has earned his stripes among his peers and the community.  He is a compassionate, and proven leader who deeply cares about our family-oriented community that we all love to call home.  Gardena, is in fact, Ron's hometown. He was raised and educated in Gardena, attending Denker Ave. School, Peary Middle School, and Gardena High. 

From 1978 to 1984, Ron was the Chief Legislative Director for the Japanese American Citizens League in Washington, DC and advocated the creation of the Presidential Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians of Public Law.  His historical contribution has been documented widely including an award-winning documentary and recognition in the Japanese American Museum in Los Angeles.  Ron considers his biggest accomplishment fatherhood. He is a proud father to son Jeff, whom he texts and talks to daily.

Ron was elected to three successive 4-year terms to the Gardena City Council, and was the first City Council Member to be termed out under the newly adopted rules in 2013.  During his 12 years on the Gardena City Council, Ron served as Mayor Pro Tem three times.  As a Governmental Affairs attorney for the last 25 years and member of countless associations, Ron has no intention of slowing down.  In fact, he intends to do quite the opposite.  As the Mayor of Gardena, Ron will put all of his experience, resources, and skills towards making Gardena a great and graceful place to live.
