Carolina “Caro” Jauregui is a proud daughter of immigrants from Mexico. She grew up in West Whittier where she attended local public schools; Daniel Phelan Elementary, George Washington Elementary (now closed), Katherine Edwards Middle School and Pioneer High School.

A first generation college graduate and former English Language Learner (ELL), Caro excelled in college with the help of programs like Upward Bound. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, with a full ride from the Gates Millennium Scholarship, where she received her bachelor degree in Peace and Conflict Studies. She also received a Master’s in Public Policy from Mills College.

Caro has dedicated her life to resolving public health disparities and increasing civic engagement. Caro is currently:

  •  The Senior Manager of Policy and Programs for California Walks, a statewide nonprofit, working on pedestrian safety issues with a focus on equity in Los Angeles and Orange County and child safety.
  • A member of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s Community Advisory Committee for the West Whittier-Los Nietos Pedestrian Master Plan.
  • A Board Secretary for SPIRITT Family Services.
  • Democratic Party Delegate for Assembly District 57.
