Linda Small, Incumbent WCSD Board Member Accomplishments, 2005 to Present

Change for change sake is dangerous, unproductive, and often distracting from getting timely results.  I believe that Experience, Responsible Governance, Relationships, and Results matter when the public charges you with a deeply serious responsibility as is involved in being a school board trustee.

This list comprises many key accomplishments I have been able to contribute during my service to Whittier City School District.  I hope you will take the time to review them and determine that I have followed through on my commitments to our Whittier community and deserve your support again this November 7th.  Please re-elect me to continue the vision, progress, and future results we have our sights set on.

Thank you!

Linda Small for School Board: Commitments---Deliverables---Future

This piece provides clarification of the commitments I made to our Whittier community and the future of efforts I believe we will need to continue pursuing.

Linda Small for School Board

Be part of the change we seek in our community.

For these past twelve years, I’ve been committed to changing the culture of our school community.

I would cherish the opportunity to continue this critical work.

Please consider my accomplishments:

Active Board Member and current Vice President who has shown visible leadership, tireless, personal relationship building, and knowledgeable decision-making through the toughest challenges a school district can encounter.

I have helped:

lead WCSD through the worst financial circumstances since the Great Depression,

make difficult decisions to maintain our fiscal solvency,

turn the tide of WCSD’s organizational culture by recruiting new leadership and setting focused priorities,

build new partnerships with all stakeholders, and

set a standard of transparent communication and relationships to bravely meet the challenges ahead.

To be successful going forward:

Ø  We must responsibly navigate a tight fiscal budget given incredible economic circumstances while focusing on District priorities of people, programs, and facilities.

Ø  We must build on the foundation set in motion for improving Student Enrollment and Achievement in Language Arts and Math for all of our schools and children.

Ø  We must continue engaging parents, staff, and community in support of effectively transitioning our children from elementary through middle school and on to high school graduation.

Ø  We must enrich our after school opportunities with academic, artistic, and sports experiences.

Ø  We must build back the “Pride of Whittier” into our schools and community.

I pledge to keep working toward District excellence with integrity and transparency

through my words and actions.

Please give Linda Small your vote again on Nov. 7th.
