Over 30 years a Whittier resident, Polly’s three successful daughters attended and graduated from Whittier City Schools and went on to obtain university degrees. Today two of her grandsons attend Longfellow Elementary School where she is actively involved in their education.  

Polly graduated with honors, Cum Laude, with a degree in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine. She and her husband own a consulting business that has focused on youth and family issues.

In 2014, Polly Vigil founded and personally funded the Join Our Youth Club (JOY), which helps parents advocate for their children’s needs.  JOY Club, has brought speakers to speak on the following issues :

  • How parents can get the most out of parent teacher- conferences;

  • Coping with Common Core and homework;

  • How to embrace school culture;

  • Social and emotional support with Reach for the Stars and SPIRITT Family Services;

  • Supporting English learners and special education.


Polly has served on the PTA, School Site Council, High School Principal Parent’s Advisory Group, New Horizons Parent Advisory Group, District English Languace Advisory Committee and the District LCAP Advisory Committee.
