My Top 3 Priorities

  • Help build meaningful connections between school, home and community in PVSD.
  • Provide thoughtful consideration to facility master planning and strategic review processes, keeping student well-being and success at the forefront of both.
  • Make fiscal as well as policy decisions that empower staff and faculty to "inspire the hearts and minds" of our children.

From the San Mateo County Voters' Guide:

Both of my daughters currently attend Portola Valley Schools. As a parent volunteer, I have come to know our schools well—working on plays, serving on site council, gardening, planning assemblies and so on. In so doing, I’ve begun to see the complex challenges our schools and district face. But I am also continually inspired by the vast potential that lies within each student.

As a school board member, I would draw upon my past work in education, leadership development, group facilitation and non-profit board participation. I believe in making public schools work. In Colorado, I was one of four women who founded and ran a public (not private) charter elementary school for our rural community. I have chaired two non-profit organizations focused on youth—On The Park and Society of Young Inklings. I’ve also studied and practiced Dialogue, Deliberation and Public Engagement through Fielding University’s master’s certificate program.

Working with college students at Stanford and the University of Colorado Boulder, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of establishing strong foundations in elementary and middle school.

If elected, I would love to spend the next three years supporting the growth and development of the students, staff and families in Portola Valley. Thanks for your consideration!
