Biography

Alan is a native of Sanger, California. Alan grew up in Mount Vernon, Washington but returned to Sanger in 1983 to attend CSU Fresno.

Alan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural and Business Economics and an M.B.A. emphasis Finance and Accounting from Fresno State (CSU Fresno).

The position of Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector requires an individual who will serve as a “watchdog” for the citizens for Fresno County. This “watchdog” must be independent so as the confront the Board of Supervisors and/or County Administrative Office when operational actions and decisions are not in accordance with accounting/principles, violate local/state/federal law, and/or result inefficient/wasteful use of taxpayer dollars.

Alan has demonstrated that independence in his twenty (20) years of service to County taxpayers as Deputy Auditor-Controller, Investment Officer, and Auditor for the County of Fresno. Alan is committed to the Fresno County community as he turned down an opportunity to become one (1) of three (3) Deputy Auditor-Controller’s for Los Angeles County to stay involved in the community of Fresno County.

The citizens for Fresno County deserve to know when employees have committed fraud or embezzled funds from the County.

The citizens of Fresno County deserve to know when the County is subsidizing operations of cities and other agencies within the County. The subsidies to cities and other agencies take dollars away from the County to provide additional patrols from the Sheriff Department, impede the hiring of additional Correctional Officers, and providing other necessary services to unincorporated County residents.

The citizens of Fresno County have a right to know how efficiently and effectively their tax dollars are being used. It was Alan’s audit team who changed the County Audit Charter to the Institute of Internal Auditor audit standards. If elected, Alan will ensure that more operational audits are conducted to inform the citizens of Fresno County how well their tax dollars are being used.

  • Sanger High School Band Boosters - Treasurer
