My Top 3 Priorities

  • My first and primary goal is to create a cultural shift that becomes deeper than authoritarian demands and rules. Successfully transforming an engrained culture must start at the top, and requires diligence, discipline, training and understanding.
  • Building partnerships with local agencies to genuinely impact the mental health and substance abuse crisis. Jail is not is an adequate treatment center. We need to stop pretending the current policies might work. They haven’t and they won’t.
  • Diversification: not just in recruitment but in the leadership development of women, people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The culture of the Sheriff’s Office can’t be community-based without the Office reflecting the community.
