My Top 3 Priorities

  • Create connections to bring resources & funding to our schools that will enable us to have more mental health assistance, safer schools, competitive salaries, and better facilities
  • Expand on vocational education and college readiness programs
  • Will work on getting modern technology to our more rural schools

Mr. Tim Hire is a well-rounded educator who brings a unique combination of experience, knowledge and personal commitment to the youth of Tulare County.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Agriculture as well as Agriculture Teaching and Administrative Services Credentials.  He has been an active leader in the local community through coaching, service organizations and the Association of California School Administrators.  He is currently in his 6th year as Superintendent of Exeter Unified School District.

A graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Tim brings the “hands-on” approach that the University is known for to every facet of his leadership.  He annually spends four days doing the job of district employees in order to stay connected with what really happens in all facets of the district.  Tim says “I love being in the classroom and on campuses interacting with students and staff,” and adds, “It gives me insight into the challenges and celebrations our staff and students experience.”  He can often be found assisting FFA students, helping the soccer teams, visiting classrooms, and attending student activities.

Tim, his wife Nicole, and two children, Taelor (18) and Mason (16), have lived in Tulare County since he began his education career in 1997 at Woodlake High School. With 21 years of experience in Tulare County, he has been a teacher, principal, assistant principal and superintendent. He has a wealth of experience as well as the energy and desire to work hard to ensure that the education system and students of Tulare county excel.

Tim has proven himself capable while serving both the Exeter Unified and Woodlake Unified School Districts.  During his 12 years  as Superintendent, he has improved student achievement and district culture, implemented a one-to-one technology program for students and passed two School Facility Bonds to improve classrooms and other district facilities.  He is one of only a few Superintendents in California to successfully unify multiple school districts.  His creativity and deep understanding of school finance proved invaluable during the recent recession, allowing Woodlake Schools to remain fiscally solvent and not reduce programs or services for students while maintaining employee compensation and health benefits.

Tim has been recognized for his leadership in a variety of ways.  He has been honored by the FFA as a Star Administrator.  He has also been recognized by his colleagues and was  selected as the Association of California School Administrator (ACSA) Region 11 Superintendent of the Year.  Tim was selected to serve on the ACSA State Human Resources Council and has served as the Vice-President, President and Legislative Action Day Lead for the Tulare Charter of ACSA.  His most recent accomplishments outside of work include leading the South Valley United Girls U19 soccer team to an undefeated Northern California Premier League championship and assisting multiple players in securing positions in college soccer programs.

Tim is honest, compassionate and committed to the advancement of students in Tulare County. He strives to secure superior educators, updated programs and state of the art facilities all using his signature personal, hands-on approach.

Supporting Tim Hire for County Superintendent of Schools will make a positive difference in Tulare County education. He distinguishes himself by pointing out he will bring longevity to the position, a passion for vocational education and college readiness, and has the unique understanding of what our districts in this county need from the county office.
