My Top 3 Priorities

  • Continue to Protect Berkeley tenants through increased legal aid funding
  • Expand rent board outreach to the students, seniors, and those who are most likely to get taken advantage of.
  • Support Prop 10 and make sure more units become under rent control

Biography

James Chang is a Commissioner on the Berkeley Rent Board where he currently Chairs the Outreach Committee, serves on the Budget & Personnel Committee and is a senior member on the Eviction & Section 8 Committee. Professionally, he serves as a Legislative Aide at the City of Berkeley. Politically, he is the Vice President of Finance for an East Bay Young Political Organization, and Secretary for the East Bay Stonewall Political Organization that does LGBTQ advocacy in the Bay Area. Previously, James Chang graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a dual bachelor’s degree in political economy and Chinese. James also previously served as the former Student Trustee for Ventura County Community Colleges that represents Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura College.
