My Top 3 Priorities

  • Ensure that new development does not result in overcrowded schools or heavily congested roads.
  • Work to modernize traffic signal systems, which will accommodate changing traffic patterns and reduce congestion by increasing traffic flows.
  • Work with local law enforcement and nonprofit organizations to find a suitable solution to the increasing homeless population.

Jose Oropeza is a 31-year-old Civil Engineer, who has lived and worked in the City of Fremont for the past five years. He comes from a working class family who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a fundamental set of core values. Jose and his lovely wife Katrina currently reside in the Northgate Neighborhood of District 1. Both Jose and his wife work in public service. Jose is currently a Project Engineer for the Alameda County Water District, while his wife is a local Kindergarten teacher.

From an early age, Jose learned that perseverance and determination were essential in achieving the future he desired. Jose worked and paid his way through college; ultimately earning both a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Jose intends to bring that same drive and determination to the Fremont City Council. He is committed to helping those less fortunate and he is adamant about giving the residents of Fremont a voice on the Council.

Jose is running for Fremont City Council because he believes new leadership, new perspectives, and new ideas are needed on the Council.

As previously mentioned, Jose not only lives in Fremont but also works in Fremont. He understands the struggles of rising rent costs, heavily congested roads, unabated development, and a severe lack of affordable housing. Jose understands that without proper infrastructure we cannot continue down the path of unabated development. As a Civil Engineer, Jose is trained to analyze, evaluate and make decisions based on facts, logic and supporting data.

As a council member, Jose will work to ensure that only responsible development occurs. He will look to work with local leaders and school officials to ensure that new developments do not result in overcrowded schools or heavily congested roads. Jose will work hard to ensure that future projects maximize the use of public transportation, and will make affordable housing a priority. He will start by ensuring that developer fees are appropriately set so as to incentivize the building of much needed affordable housing.

In addition, Jose will work to modernize traffic signal systems, which will enhance efficiency, accommodate changing traffic patterns, and reduce congestion by increasing traffic flows. He will work on upgrading streets and evaluate the implementation of stop-controlled intersections to aid in reducing cut through traffic and impacts to city residents.

Last but not least, Jose will work with local leaders and nonprofit organizations to find solutions to caring for our homeless community members. He will make public safety a top priority and will work closely with local leaders to ensure that Fremont continues to be a diverse and inclusive community.

Jose is driven, hardworking, and committed to improving our City. His campaign rests on one core value; to represent the interest of the community by being honest, transparent, and accountable. With your support, Jose is confident we can continue to make Fremont a wonderful place to live and work!
