Biography

I was born and raised in Napa and graduated with an English Degree from UC Davis. After spending 16 years in the insurance industry, I earned my teaching credential and began teaching at American Canyon Middle School in 2001. I moved to the new high school when it opened in 2010. Throughout my teaching career, I have been involved in a variety of activities outside the classroom. I have coached a variety of teams, advised clubs, and started both the WEB and Link Crew mentoring programs. I have also served as Department Chair, Union Representative, PLC Leader, Council Representative, and New Teacher Mentor.

As a community member, I have served on the Parks and Community Service Commission and am a member of the Friends of the Library, American Canyon Soroptimist 2018 Club, and American Canyon Community & Parks Foundation. I currently serve on the AC Chamber of Commerce and KHOPE International Boards. Through KHOPE, I began and continue to work on the annual Reindeer Run.

The reason I am running for the NVC Board of Trustees is to again represent American Canyon. I believe that NVC and American Canyon High School should have a partnership that will truly serve the students and community members in my city. After watching several board meetings, I also believe that I can assist in the continued efforts for better transparency, fiscal responsibility, and strengthening board policies. As a former student and employee of NVC, I believe it is an important part of the Napa County community. However, I believe Napa Valley College can make a greater impact and I would like to work on behalf of the citizens of American Canyon to make that happen.
