Ricky Hurtado is a lifelong resident of Napa and the Community Engagement Manager for Cope Family Center.

Ricky comes from humble beginnings in our community, which helped inspire him to work hard, support those in need and strive for a more welcome and engaging community. His father, who has worked as a farmworker since he was 17, travelled to the Napa Valley on a work visa before moving his wife and two sons to Napa before Ricky was born.  Ricky’s mother, meanwhile, began work as a house keeper after moving to the United States, something she still does to this day.  When Ricky’s parents and older brothers first arrived, they lived in poverty and struggled to make ends meet, but their continued hard work and goal of a better life for themselves and their family allowed them to eventually obtain affordable housing, providing stability and opportunity for their sons.  They went on to have another son (Ricky’s younger brother), and their hard work and determination to achieve a better life for their children paid off when Ricky’s parents were able to save enough money to buy their first home in Napa.

Ricky’s passion for service grew as a young adult, when he interned for Congressman Mike Thompson and, based on his family history, became an ardent supporter of immigration reform.  Before joining Cope Family Center, Ricky recently worked as the Development Manager for UpValley Family Centers.  Ricky has also taken on several leadership roles within our community, including service as the Secretary/Board Member for the Napa County Hispanic Network and an appointee on the Napa County Fair Association Board.  Prior to joining the Fair Board, Ricky served as President of the Democrats of Napa Valley, an organization he is still involved with to this day.

Ricky graduated from Sacramento State University with a Degree in Government, becoming the first member of his family to graduate from college.  He and his wife & high school sweetheart Caitlin, a Napa veterinarian, were recently married in June 2017 after being together for more than a decade.
