My Top 3 Priorities

  • Safe Schools. When students are safe ALL staff are safe.
  • Improved Academic Scores. We must improve academic scores with best management practices.
  • Transparency. We must hold management accountable for clear spending guidelines.

I am sixty-six years young, have 4 children, who have all attended Stockton Unified School District schools, and have been teaching for 30 years.  I taught 11 years at the Children's Home of Stockton, and 19 years in SUSD schools.  I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business and 2 Masters degrees.  One is in Curriculum and Instruction, the other is in Special Education. I have taught in pre-school through 12 grade in a variety of subjeects.  I taught high need/high risk students students and have extensive experience creating positive behavioral change.

Prior to teaching, I worked in construction, electrical sales and, engineeering and accounting.  I only spent a short time in accounting and found that to be a frustrating career.  I then applied my construction experience with my business and acounting experience and found sales and sales engingeering to be highly motivating.  I ended up doubling and tripling the sales of two local repair shops over the cours of seven years and became deeply involved in designing manufacturing products.  Thes products were often large ticket projects that were made in Stockton, California and sold nationally and internationally.  I learned to apply these skills to teaching the students I served and enjoyed teaching subjects like 3 dimensional computer aided design, drafting, and math through trigonometry. It was also my great joy to learn to teach art which became extremenly useful when pictures/renerings were needed to display products designed.

During my career, I oversaw bilingual and after school programs and assisted in overight of new programs which were usually of benefit to the students I served.  I also gained a strong a stong understanding of behavioral mngement.  I know what it takes to succeed with high risk students.  It is my desire to put these skills to work and know I have the skills to assist in turning SUSD around. SUSD presently lacks good alternative programs that allows high risk students to succeed or highly talented students to find the programs that will challenge their needs.  SUSD need high quaility, altenrative educationprograms that will meet needs of high risk students as well as highly talented students.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

My political philosohy is simple.  We must do those things that lead to success.  Failure is not an option.  This is not a function of conservative or liberal thinking.  It is a function of doing what we need to do.  SUSD has seen success in the past and we need to take advantage of what has worked. We now have a new superintendent that appears to cabable of creating that success.  It is my hope that his present successes in management continues so we can create a new history of real academic success.   We must turn SUSD around.
