My Top 3 Priorities

  • School Safety- Secure perimeters and improve safety procedures to protect students and staff
  • Business Partnerships- Collaborate with local businesses to provide resources and opportunities for students
  • 21st Century Learning- Provide innovative learning environments and engaging programs to prepare them for future careers

I grew up in San Diego County and after high school enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.  In 2005, as a Sergeant, I deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  It was an honor to serve my country and I am proud to be a Marine.  After being Honorably Discharged from active duty, I chose to continue my career in service and became a Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.  I have worked as a Police Officer for 12 years in several different assignments and specialized units.   I have found through my work as a U.S. Marine and a Police Officer, that strong communities rely on the service of dedicated citizens.

As a young adult, I completed my education in an effort to continuously improve and enrich my professional experience.  I graduated magna cum laude from the University of La Verne with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management.  I later returned to the University of La Verne and earned my Master of Business Adminsitration.  My wife Alicia, an educator of 18 years, has devoted her career to improving the lives of students and families.  We are both excited to imagine the innovative opportunities the schools in this district can provide our children.  Together, we recognize the value of a quality education and know that excellent schools build excellent communities.

My family and I are active in the Brea Community.  Both of our boys are involved in sports and play in both the AC Brea Soccer League and Brea Little League.  I have coached my youngest son’s Little League team and am a member of both American Legion Post #381 and the Knights of Columbus Saint Angela Council #9511.  I was elected to my neighborhood Homeowners Association and as a Board Member, I have worked to develop improvement projects for our neighborhood while keeping our HOA dues low and maintaining financial responsibility.  I am connected and committed to the Brea community and ready to serve all of the families of the Brea Olinda Unified School District.

Political Philosophy

As a Police Officer, Marine Corps Veteran, and Father, school safety is my biggest priority.  I believe we must make every effort to ensure that our schools are safe. I will utilize my experience to help lead policy changes and investment in infrastructure to ensure the safety of all students.  As a School Board Member, I will work to ensure that all students are provided high-quality, relevant, and engaging programs while maintaining fiscal accountability.  Through partnerships with local businesses and school branding, our school district can provide dynamic, engaging programs to prepare kids for careers, college and the workforce.  Our teachers and staff are critical to the success of our children.  I will work in collaboration with school board colleagues and district leadership to ensure that our teachers and staff have the support needed and professional development to provide our children with the most effective and engaging programs.
