  • Expand after school programs to give our students a more enriching education experience

Experience

Biography

Norma Campos Kurtz was born and raised in Southern California. Her grandparents immigrated from Mexico, and her father worked hard every day to ensure that Norma and her family had access to the opportunities a high-quality education could provide. Norma learned these lessons firsthand, when the unexpected death of her first husband forced her to work full-time and raise her children as a single mom in Orange County. Norma knows the sacrifices that many working parents go through to put their children first and give them every chance to succeed.

With experience in both the private and public sector, Norma formerly worked as an Associate Vice President for a Communications company before entering public service in Anaheim. She has a long record of experience working for the State Legislature, where she has focused on education policy, more funding for local schools, and has worked with many city, education, and neighborhood leaders to come together and solve important issues within the community.

Norma has worked tirelessly on behalf of our Anaheim schools and has fought to ensure that Anaheim Elementary District schools have more funding and resources available for classrooms and students. She also serves Anaheim as a member of the city’s Housing and Community Development Commission, where she works with residents and the Anaheim neighborhood councils to assist in soliciting citizen participation relating to use of federal housing funds and other community development efforts. Norma is also a board member for Anaheim Beautiful, a non-profit dedicated to preserving and enhancing the beauty of Anaheim. She lives with her husband, Ken, in South Anaheim.
