Biography

I've lived in Huntington Beach for over 40 years, raised my three kids here and taught in the Huntington Beach City School District for 39 years! I'm proud of both my city and the Huntington Beach City School District.   Many years ago, while working on my administrative credential and doing an internship in the district, I realized my true love was being in the classroom.  It is in the classroom where the real differences are made. There is nothing more rewarding than to see students succeed and be proud of their own accomplishments.  These are some of mine:
  • Received PTSA Award as Outstanding Teacher at both Gisler and Sowers Middle Schools
  • Received Teacher of the year distinction at Sowers Middle School
  • Nominee for Teacher of the Year, by Huntington Beach Education Foundation
  • Served as an Administrative Intern
  • Acted as PTSA Teacher Liaison at Sowers Middle School
  • Served with Eunice Kennedy Shriver at the Community of Caring Conference at the University of Virginia
  • Served as Secretary for the Huntington Beach Elementary Teachers Association
  • Started PALS-Peer Assistance Leadership program at Sowers
  • Served as Athletic Director for Sowers Middle School
  • Coached X-country and Track and Field
  • Coordinator for the science department writing team production of the Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School applications
  • Co-member and mentor on the use of smart boards and computerized grading programs
  • Writing team for production of 7th grade science curriculum
  • 7th Grade Sunday School Teacher at Saints Simon and Jude
  • AYSO Soccer team mom
  • Transported instruments as part of the Band Booster Club at Edison
Running for a seat on the Huntington Beach City School board, I have no hidden agenda(s). I am the parent that ran next to you at the HB half marathon, sat next to you at football games and soccer games. I shared donuts with you at church while our children played together and carpooled with you to Junior Guards. I listened when you talked.  I am part of the community we live in and I know our students needs. I am you.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

To prepare our students for the future, our school board must foster the three “T’s”-Teamwork, Training, and Technology that students need to maximize their potential.  As your school board member, you can count on me to foster a quality-learning environment for all students.  To make this happen, I know that parents, teachers, and school board must work together, as a team! Our schools must emphasize training that prepares our students for college or career.  While our elementary and middle schools are already working to take advantage of new technologies to prepare our students to compete and prosper in the 21st century, you can count on me to help push this agenda forward.  I will insist that all decisions made are in the best interest of students and ensure fiscal transparency and accountability.

I have been a Huntington Beach resident for over four decades and taught science for 39 years in the Huntington Beach City School District. As a proud parent of three children, who attended HB City Schools, I believe in my core that the needs of students must be above any other agendas.  With your vote, I will have the opportunity to give back and to help strengthen our community.
